Algeria's state buyer OAIC returned to the market for 50,000 mt of milling wheat for February shipment in a tender released Monday, market sources told Agricensus.

OAIC opened the tender for optional origin wheat from France, the Baltics, Germany, Canada and Romania, Argentina or the US, but excluded Ukraine and Russia.

In its last tender, which closed on November 21, OAIC picked up 540,000 mt of 11% protein at around $223-224/mt CFR for January 1-31 shipment, with France expected to be the most likely origin.

The tender comes a week after Algeria's government announced it will cut wheat imports in the 2019/20 marketing year by 2.2 million mt to 4 million mt in order to cut costs.

Details of Algeria’s previous buying can be found in the Tenders Dashboard.
