Brazil's massive soybean harvest has reached 65% of the expected planted area, according to consultants AgRural, up seven percentage points on the week, but behind the 68% harvest level of last year.

However, the consultants said in a weekly update Friday that the figure remains three percentage points over the five-year average.

Both Mato Grosso and Mato Gross do Sul, are almost complete at 96% and 98%, respectively, while Goias is 89% complete, the consultants said.

"In the rest of the country, the harvest reached 5% in Rio Grande do Sul, 23% in Santa Catarina, 87% in São Paulo, 67% in Minas Gerais, 20% in Bahia, 40% in Maranhao, 45% in Tocantins, 25% in Piauí, 24% in Pará and 96% in Rondonia," the report said.

The figures are similar to plantings of Brazil's second corn crop with 99% of seeds in the ground in the Center South compared to 92% last week, 99% last year and a five-year average of 96%.

In terms of the summer corn crop, 43% of the harvest is complete versus 34% a week earlier and 54% last year and a five-year average of 52%.
