A new transhipment grain facility in the Ukrainian port of Mykolaiv is close to completion, according to a statement from the facility’s operator Nibulon.

The facility is set to have a capacity of 43,000 mt and handle both grains and oilseeds.

Mooring facilities have now been completed and the berth at the transhipment terminal will extend to almost 800 metres, to allow up to five vessels to berth simultaneously.

Total storage capacity at the location is likely to be up to 173,000 mt with financing coming from the International Finance Corporation, an organisation of the World Bank.

Construction started in November 2017 and is on schedule to end in early February 2018.

The facility is a further sign of the investment heading into Ukraine’s infrastructure, with the country's port storage standing at around 3.3 million mt and transhipment capacity capable of handling 60 million mt per year, versus grain production levels of around 70 million mt.
