Russian grain exports up 40% year-on-year: ministry

Russian grain exports are 39.8% higher year-on-year at 39.17 million mt, as 1.5 million mt was exported in the week to April 1, data from the ministry of agriculture showed Monday.

Wheat exports in the week came to 1.19 million mt, taking the year’s total to 30.61 million mt – up 41.1% on last year.

Barley saw 110,000 mt leave in the week taking the marketing year total 4.41 million mt – 97% higher than last year.

Weekly corn exports were at their second-highest level of the 2017/18 marketing year, as 281,000 mt left Russia.

A total of 3.98 million mt of corn has now been exported, up 2.3% on the same stage last year.
