Argentina soybean sowing surge 10 percentage points to hit 34%

Argentinian soybean plantings have reached 34% of the expected area to be sowed, according to the weekly Buenos Aires Grain Exchange report.

In a week where the Argentinian weather attracted much attention, plantings increased by 10.2 percentage points, to leave sowing rates up 0.3% on historical rates.

In terms of corn, plantings reached 35.8% of an estimated 5 million hectares. That figure was up 0.4% on the week, but down 5.1% on historical levels.

While wheat harvest totaled 20.6% of the expected area to be harvested at a yield of 1.84 tonnes per hectare. Total production is expected to reach 17 million mt, the exchange said.
