EU wheat exports extended 4.7% on week but sales continue to lag previous years, data from the European Commission showed Thursday.

EU wheat sales for the week to November 14 touched 339,323 mt, taking total sales from July 1 to 7.51 million mt – down 23% on year.

In a world awash with plentiful supply of wheat, EU sellers are struggling to compete with neighbours Russia and Ukraine.

Algeria remains the primary destination for EU wheat, with French sales representing 1.7 million mt or 23% of the total. Saudi Arabia is second largest with 962,992 mt (12.8%) and Egypt third at 805,880 mt (10.7%).
