Global trade in wheat is expected to remain flat in 2017/2018 at 175 million tonnes, according to the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organisation, with corn expected to rise 3.3% to 143 million tonnes.

Wheat import demand is expected to be broadly steady in all regions bar Africa, where demand from Algeria and Morocco is expected to fall slightly.

Chinese, Iranian and European demand for corn is expected to underpin the rise with Argentina and Brazil set to fill additional requirements.
