Progress on gathering Bulgaria’s corn harvest has slowed dramatically up to the week ending November 2 with 92.3% of the harvest now gathered, data from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry showed Thursday.

That represents a 1.1 percentage point increase on the preceding week – the slowest rate of progress seen in this year’s harvest and reflecting the weather issues that have afflicted the region in recent weeks.

The increase takes the harvest to 92.3% complete with production now standing at 2.2 million mt on yields of 583 kg per hectare.

That leaves the campaign on course for a final harvest of 2.4 million mt.

The autumn campaign for wheat has seen 9.3 million ha sown, some 13% higher than at the same stage in 2016, while 1.3 million mt has been exported between July 3 and November 5, amounting to a 52% increase on the same period of 2016.
