Switzerland-headquartered grain trader Ameropa has appointed a senior member of Bunge’s staff as its new CEO, filling a role that has been vacant since June, according to a statement on Monday.

William Dujardin, who has been with Bunge since 2005 most recently served as the company’s Vice President for North & Central Europe, will start at Ameropa in January.

Dujardin takes up the reins from acting chief Andreas Zivy, board chair and a member of the company’s founding family.

Zivy has been CEO since June, when he stepped into the role after Jan Kadanik’s departure.

Primarily known as a grains and fertilisers trader, the privately-owned Ameropa has increased its investment in elevators and ports in recent years – with a focus on Romania.
