Planting of winter crops in Ukraine is close to completion according to estimates from Agritel, with the area for wheat set to rise fractionally versus this stage of 2016.

Wheat sowing is complete on 97% of the 5.94 million hectares forecast to be planted, according to the data, with barley complete on 89% of the anticipated 822,000 ha.

If so, that would represent a fall of some 60,000 ha for barley versus 2016.

For rapeseed, 100% of the planting is complete on a forecast of 864,000 hectares.
