Soybean area, yield and production in the key Brazilian state of Mato Grosso have all been increased, with production forecast at 31.79 million mt, up 1.66% from last year, data released by IMEA late Monday shows.

Area saw a modest increase of 0.42% to 9.46 million hectares, but yields were up as the weather proved “decisive” according to the agency.

Productivity increased to 55.98 bags/ha, or 3.35 mt/ha, up from 3.25 mt/ha and is now higher than the productivity seen in the 2016/17 marketing year.

That took estimated production to 31.79 million mt, up 1.66% versus the state’s performance last year.

However, the report notes that around a third of the area is still to be harvested with regions in the northeast and southeast showing lower yields while southern, central and western regions are set to see yields increase by between 3% and 7%.
