Ukraine soy yield nosedives as harvest draws to a close

Ukraine has produced 3.6 million mt of soybeans in the 2017 harvest on a yield of 1.92 mt per hectare, according to UkrAgroConsult.

The Kiev-based analysts said that farmers had gathered 3.641 million mt of soybeans from 1.899 million mt hectares out of an intended 1.99 million hectares.

The yield of 1.92 mt per hectare is down 16% on the previous year, the analysts said.

In comparison the US yields, where farming is more efficient, has a yield in excess of 3.2 mt per hectare.
